I went to A1 Auto because I had a problem with my power steering. The fluid was leaking out nearly as fast as I could put it in, and the strain of driving without proper power steering just wasn't sustainable. I'm originally from a very small town with just one mechanic, so I was used to a very friendly and understanding kind of person, one who knows that the best way to keep a customer base is to be decent to your customers, explain the problem in ways that they can understand, and *not overcharge them*. I'm so relieved that I found a place here in DeKalb that feels exactly like that! I brought my car by and they looked it over free of charge and told me what part was messed up and that they could fix it, but if they ordered it, the part would be more expensive than if I managed to find it on my own. I found an aftermarket part that didn't have a great way of attaching to my car, but was a lot cheaper, and so I ended up only paying labor costs that felt extremely reasonable to me, especially considering I gave them a part they had to get a bit creative with. I'm sure there'll be some problem with my car in the future, since that's always the way of things, and I'm absolutely planning to take it to A1 Auto Repair. I've already recommended them to a friend who's having trouble with their brakes and tires! The employees at A1 Auto are friendly and absolutely willing to work with you, and the cost of the repair was *way* less than I'd been fearing. Can't recommend them enough!!- Pen Novus. 2/29/2019- Got my wheel hub replaced by them a few days ago and they were really great. They let me buy my own parts and even and sure I was getting a decent price. Only paid $85 for the repair and now my truck rides really well and all the problems related to that are fixed. - Russ is the most Honest mechanic I know. Every time he's taken a look and done any work on any of our cars and trucks (4 of them) he's been honest about costs, time, and what NEEDS to be done, versus what you can get by with, he's a working man's mechanic, and will never run you through the cost machine other places will. - Russ is extremely honest and hardworking. Not only is he a great mechanic, but he is also a great person. He will always tell you what he is going to do, and will do his best to make sure that everything works when he is done.
